Swimming is not just a recreational activity; it's a crucial life skill that can significantly enhance your child's safety, confidence, and physical development. At
Savvy Swimmers, a locally owned and operated swim school in Broken Arrow, one of our offerings is
beginner swim lessons tailored for children aged 5 to 7. Discover the numerous benefits of starting swim lessons at this pivotal age and learn how our programs are designed to support your child's growth in a nurturing environment.
Children between the ages of 5 and 7 are at an ideal stage to embark on formal swim instruction. Children have developed the physical coordination and cognitive abilities at this age that make learning to swim effective and enjoyable.
Children at 5 to 7 years old exhibit strong leaps in motor skills, enabling them to grasp swimming techniques more readily. Their improved physical coordination allows them to learn various swim strokes and kicking methods more easily. Cognitively, they are better equipped to follow instructions and comprehend the importance of water safety rules, making the learning process smoother and more efficient.
Starting swim lessons at this age helps children overcome any initial fear of water, fostering a sense of confidence and independence. As they master new skills, they experience a boost in self-esteem, which can positively impact other areas of their lives. Participating in group classes offers valuable opportunities for social interaction, helping them develop teamwork and communication skills.
Being a locally owned and operated swim school, Savvy Swimmers takes pride in offering personalized attention within a community-focused setting. Our approach centers on creating a supportive and engaging environment where every child feels valued and motivated to learn.
Our instructors are not only passionate about swimming but are also trained professionals specializing in teaching young children. They employ patience, encouragement, and effective teaching methods to ensure that each child progresses at their own pace while feeling confident and secure in the water.
Our program uses
SSI's trusted curriculum to cover a broad spectrum of essential swimming skills. We focus on fundamental techniques like floating, kicking, and basic stroke development. The curriculum is designed to start with swim aids like kickboards and gradually transition children to independent swimming. Additionally, we strongly emphasize water safety education, teaching children to recognize potential hazards and respond appropriately in different situations.
Our swim school is conveniently located in Broken Arrow, OK near BA High School, housed within an
8,000 sq ft facility specifically designed for young swimmers. The facility features heated pools to ensure a comfortable swimming experience throughout the year. Safety is our top priority, and we follow rigorous sanitation and safety protocols to maintain a clean and secure environment. Parents can relax in comfortable viewing areas while siblings enjoy designated play spaces.
Water safety is a critical aspect of our program. Unfortunately, drowning is a leading cause of accidental death among children, and early swim instruction can significantly reduce this risk. We teach water awareness, helping children understand and respect the water. Our instructors equip them with survival skills such as floating and treading water, ensuring they know how to respond in emergencies.
Understanding the demands of busy family schedules, we offer flexible class times to accommodate your needs. Our weekly 30-minute classes are designed to keep young swimmers engaged without overwhelming them. With an affordable tuition of $110 per month, we strive to make quality swim instruction accessible to all families.
We have recently introduced
Saturday classes, which began on September 21. This addition offers an alternative for families who may find weekdays challenging.
Consider taking
a few preparatory steps to ensure your child gets the most out of their swim lessons. Visiting our facility beforehand can help familiarize your child with the new environment. Openly discussing what they can expect during the lessons and expressing enthusiasm about the new experience can also build positive anticipation. Ensuring comfortable swimwear and essential gear like goggles can make them feel more prepared and excited to start.
We are grateful for the trust and positive feedback from families within our community:

"We’ve been using Savvy Swimmers for our son’s swim lessons and have been very pleased with the entire experience! The owners along with the entire staff have been very helpful when we have had questions. Our swim teacher is so wonderful with our son and he has gained so much confidence in his capabilities just since we’ve started. They have a FABULOUS deck manager that has been so helpful working with children who might not be as comfortable with being near water or away from their parents. It’s a brand new facility with top of the line features. Overall, I highly recommend Savvy Swimmers for your child’s swim lessons, and you are supporting a locally owned business!"
